At FreeLAB Laboratory, we use two of the most effective methodologies for detecting Legionella:
- Culture analysis (ISO 11731)
Since 2001, we have been accredited by ENAC (National Accreditation Entity) for the analysis of Legionella in water samples in accordance with ISO 11731, being one of the first laboratories in Spain to obtain this accreditation.
Royal Decree 865/2003, which regulates the health and hygiene criteria for the prevention and control of legionellosis, establishes that Legionella analysis must be carried out in accordance with this standard, with which we fully comply.
- PCR analysis (qualitative and quantitative analysis of Legionella pneumophila)
In order to optimise response times, we have incorporated real-time PCR, a molecular biology technique recognised for its speed and reliability. This method includes all stages of the process (sample concentration, DNA extraction and PCR amplification), enabling us to deliver results within a maximum of 24 to 48 hours from receipt of the sample.
